A Case Study on Obesity Treatment by ayu:manthra

This case study focuses on a 34-year-old male patient diagnosed with obesity and his treatment at ayu:manthra, an Ayurveda treatment center and yoga studio based in Calicut. The patient presented with an increase in body weight and excess body fat, particularly around the waist, along with excessive sweating and decreased physical and social activities leading to fatigue.



1. Obesity and its Effects:

Obesity is a medical condition characterized by an excessive accumulation of body fat. It is typically assessed using the body mass index (BMI), which is a measure of body weight relative to height. In this case, the patient had a BMI of 33.7 kg/m2, indicating obesity. Obesity can have various negative effects on an individual's health, including an increased risk of developing chronic conditions such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and joint problems. It can also impact psychological well-being, self-esteem, and overall quality of life.


2. Examination and Findings:

During the examination, the patient reported increased body weight, excess body fat around the waist, excessive sweating, decreased physical and social activities, and fatigue. 4. Medicines Prescribed:

In addition to the treatment therapies, the patient was prescribed various Ayurvedic medicines tailored to address obesity and its associated symptoms. These medicines aimed to balance the patient's doshas, improve digestion, boost metabolism, and support healthy weight loss.


5. Results:

After completing the 14-day treatment program at ayu:manthra, the patient experienced positive results. The patient's body weight reduced from 95 kg to 90 kg, and the BMI showed improvement. Additionally, the excessive sweating normalized, and the patient reported a reduction in fatigue.


6. Prevention:

To maintain the progress achieved during the treatment, the patient was advised on preventive measures. These recommendations included following a proper daily routine, avoiding oily and fried food items, excluding milk and milk products, chocolates, ice creams, and minimizing excessive daytime sleep. Regular exercise and the consumption of low glycemic index foods were also encouraged to support weight management and overall health.
